A bone density test uses x-rays to measure how many grams of calcium and other bone minerals are packed into a segment of bone. We use a unique peripheral screening device that measures low bone density using the intermediate phalange of the middle finger.

Low bone density is a risk factor for osteoporosis and osteopenia. These tend to be more common in women. This test takes age, gender, and ethnicity in to account when determining your risk for fractures and fragile bones. The bone density machine we use is the ACCU-DXA2 This is one of the services that we can offer in office or at our health fairs.
